On April 18, RUNTO released a new research report revealing that, according to its online tracking data, AI glasses sales on major Chinese e-commerce platforms reached 23,000 units during January and February 2025—an 80.4% year-on-year increase.
Looking ahead, the total AI glasses market in China—including all retail channels—is projected to reach 314,000 units in 2025, marking a 188.5% increase compared to 2024.
AI glasses, distinct from general smart glasses and conventional AR devices, represent a specific product category equipped with AI capabilities, powered by either locally deployed or cloud-based large language models. Their share within the smart glasses market rose from 26.1% in 2024 to 38.7% in the first two months of 2025, and is expected to exceed 60% by year-end.
Based on product features and technical design, AI glasses can be categorized into three main types: AI audio glasses, AI camera glasses, and AI+AR glasses. These categories reflect increasing levels of technical complexity and price points.
In terms of current online sales structure, AI audio glasses remain dominant. In 2024, they accounted for 70% of AI glasses sales. However, due to the rapid growth of AI camera glasses in early 2025, their market share has dropped below 60%.
Driven by the global influence of Ray-Ban Meta, AI camera glasses have become a strategic focus for many brands. Following the market entry of new models from leading AR brand TCL RayNeo.
Meanwhile, AI+AR glasses, though promising, still face challenges due to immature technologies and limited market readiness. As a result, their market share remains volatile.
