At AWE USA 2025, XREAL CEO and founder Chi Xu delivered a keynote revealing details of Project Aura, the company's upcoming XR glasses built specifically for the Android XR platform in partnership with Google.
Project Aura features a dual-chip architecture: the glasses themselves are powered by XREAL’s next-generation spatial computing chip, the X1S, which delivers a 25% performance boost over the previous X1 and offers improved multitasking capabilities. External computing is handled by a Qualcomm Snapdragon-powered companion device.
This modular AR glasses system will offer a 70°+ field of view, aligning with the lightweight, split-device approach seen in upcoming products like Meta’s Loma and Puffin. Project Aura made its debut at the Google I/O 2025, marking the first Android XR-powered flagship AR device jointly released by XREAL and Google. The product is slated for release in 2026.
Alongside Project Aura, XREAL will also be showcasing the One Series AR glasses with spatial computing capabilities powered by the original X1 chip. Visitors can experience the XREAL EYE, a modular camera attachment that enables 6DOF anchoring on the One Series, and the NEO battery pack, designed to extend the mobile AR entertainment experience.
