China's AR Shipments in 2024 Expected to Increase 101.0%

IDC's latest "Top Ten Insights into China's AR/VR Market in 2024" shows that China's AR shipments in 2023 are expected reach 240,000 units, an increase of 133.9%. Among them, with standalone AR expecting to ship 35,000 units and tethered AR expecting to ship 205,000 units (most of the current products need to be connected to smartphones). In 2024, AR shipments are expected to continue to grow at the rate of 101.0%. Tethered AR will still be the mainstream, but it is worth noting that with the release of Qualcomm AR chips and the advancement of optical waveguide technology, mainstream manufacturers will continue to release or iterate standalone AR glasses, which is expected to ship 60,000 units in 2024, representing an increase of 68.5%.
